A Constitution for the People, Not the Party:

Why ZHRO’s Model Constitution Must Replace Zanu PF’s Stage-Managed “Public Consultation” As Zimbabwe’s Parliament prepares to debate Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 — a Bill designed to entrench Emmerson Mnangagwa’s grip on power until 2030 and beyond — ZHRO presents a credible, democratic alternative rooted in genuine separation of powers, inviolable term limits, and the sovereignty of the Zimbabwean people.

This document is not a protest. It is a blueprint.

Protests have their place — and ZHRO has delivered them, month after month, year after year, for a decade. Petitions to Downing Street. Marches to the Zimbabwean Embassy. The Walk for Freedom from Brighton to London. Thirty-three months of continuous, documented, lawful advocacy. The world has been told.

Now the world must be shown what comes next.

For 46 years, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) has governed Zimbabwe with a strategy that can only be described as systematic demolition. Not the creative destruction of reform, but the deliberate wrecking of institutions, economies, constitutions, and human lives — ensuring that no alternative to their rule could take root, grow, or survive.

They demolished the breadbasket of Africa and left a nation that cannot feed itself. They demolished an independent judiciary and replaced it with compliant courts. They demolished the free press, bombed the Daily News, and captured the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation. They demolished the electoral process so thoroughly that in 2023, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission — ZEC — simply declared ZANU-PF the winner without counting the votes.

And most devastatingly of all: they demolished trust. The social contract between a state and its people.

But here is what they could not demolish: the Zimbabwean diaspora.

Six to eight million Zimbabweans live outside their country — forced out by violence, economic collapse, and despair. They send remittances that constitute a significant portion of Zimbabwe’s GDP. They have built careers, families, and expertise across every field a modern nation requires: medicine, law, engineering, finance, agriculture, technology, education. They have kept Zimbabwe alive from the outside while ZANU-PF destroyed it from within.

This document is their blueprint.

The Rebuilding of a Democratic Zimbabwe. Not a wish list. A construction plan. With architects named, foundations already laid, and the first bricks already in place.
