Sub heading for this entire report

Dateline Friday 16th August 2024: Whitehall, London 12:00 noon

Zimbabweans started arriving opposite the gates to 10 Downing Street at around 12:00 {high noon!}, although due to travelling great distances a few were in London for 8:00am.

However, in the run up to the visitation by SADC tomorrow {17th August 2024} regarding the passing over of the {rotational}  SADC Chairmanship, ED Mnangagwa has gone full scale psychotic paranoia national white-wash programme!

Roads that have not seen tarmac for decades, suddenly got a 'top-coat' {straight onto the sand in many cases so in a month or two - it will be a pot-holed obstacle course} - but hey, whenever have Zanu done a quality job? Verges were tidied up whilst others were painted! They even claimed they were going to build luxury apartment for the visiting SADC 'Heads of State' {alas these despite the Swiss 'expertise' are still unfinished - again typical Zanu PF bodge-up?

But the most unsettling aspect of this purely ceremonial SADC chairmanship, was the ruthless forward planning for months in advance by the psychotic ED and his band of paranoid sadistic CIO's, Police and Military personnel - press-ganged into detaining anybody and everybody they could think of who may/may not, possibly/maybe lead to ED being "embarrassed" about the nation he has plundered for so, so long. The insanity of Zanu paranoia should be a 'case-study' in future annals of political-psychology teachings.

The breath-taking hypocrisy of ED trying to polish a t**d of his own making.

But the degree of human suffering meted out by the psychotic Zanu PF machine, in these preceding months cannot be over emphasised. Abductions without due cause, torture, beatings detention without trials, without representation, for months on end. The Zanu PF regime is failing on every measure of an "administration" - worse, they cannot legally claim to be a Government - in part due to SADC's own SECOM findings!  Cheif Ndiweni made this exact point outside Number 10 Downing Street this afternoon. {Video Link to Follow}

But, let us not forget what other Election observers have said about the 23-24th August 2023 Zimbabwe Elections! A few will be cited further below.

More telling, is the arrest of the Election Observers! Who were trying to validate and tabulate the actual votes! Typical Zanu PF "thinking" - lets put a stop to that and arrest them all! Zanu PF cannot even think as a government - their deep seated psychosis is so complete, that their 'knee-jerk' reactions, to arrest, capture and torture any and every form of "opposition" beit from anybody - even foreign observers.

The fraudulent ZEC and its entire administration has plenty to hide from the 'eyes' of the World's election observers.

In part 2 of this report we shall see the global headlines issued on the 16th August 2024 regarding this "CHARADE in ZIMBABWE"

a round up of the news outlets

from the 16th August 2024 - as collated in the Early hours of 17th August

‘SADC should speak out’: Zimbabwe activists face crackdown ahead of summit.
Police flood Harare’s streets in anticipation of protests on the eve of the Southern African Development Community meeting.

“It has been their modus operandi {Zanu PF regime} and there have been threats issued by the president’s spokesperson,” he said. Al Jazeera contacted Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Home Affairs, which made remarks this month about agitators seeking to unleash civil disobedience, to comment on the claims but did not receive a response.

About 160 people have been arrested since June, according to Amnesty International. Police officials hit protesters during arrests and psychologically torture them in detention, lawyers representing them said.

bbc-news

Three Zimbabwean activists who were arrested in dramatic fashion after being forced off an aeroplane last month have been denied bail, on the eve of a high-profile international summit in the country.

Robson Chere, Namatai Kwekweza and Samuel Gwenzi have been charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly protesting outside a court in June about the arrest of dozens of opposition supporters. The magistrate ruled they were likely to abscond, could commit other offences and cause public despondency, according to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).

A lawyer representing the trio says they were held for hours without access to a legal representative and tortured soon after their arrest.

Amnesty International

ZIMBABWE: AUTHORITIES MUST END ESCALATING CRACKDOWN ON HUMAN RIGHTS AHEAD OF SADC SUMMIT

Amnesty International is gravely concerned about the escalating crackdown on human rights including repression of civic space, arbitrary arrests of opposition members, activists, human rights defenders (HRDs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) representatives, and intimidation, harassment and threats against peaceful protesters in Zimbabwe ahead of the 44th Ordinary Summit of Heads State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), scheduled to take place on 17 August in Harare. Zimbabwean authorities must immediately and unconditionally release those arrested solely for peacefully exercising their human rights and drop the trumped-up charges against them.

Violent repression and torture in Zimbabwe on eve of major development conference
Index reports on the government’s increasing brutality towards protesters and human rights activists
By Clemence Manyukwe

Zimbabwe is in the throes of a deepening human rights crisis ahead of hosting a Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) summit on Saturday when its leader Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has deployed army tanks in townships and launched a major crackdown against dissenting voices, will assume the bloc’s chairmanship.

The escalating harassment of pro-democracy campaigners, human rights defenders, political activists, student leaders and ordinary residents, some of whom have severely been tortured, came with dire warnings.

There is evidence that the state repression was planned at the highest levels within the country’s corridors of power as speeches by key figures sparked off a chain of frightening events.

Zimbabwe's 'poor' rights record clouds SADC summit

The 16-nation Southern African Development Community summit in Harare seeks to prioritize an economic growth agenda for the region. But the human rights record of host nation Zimbabwe has overshadowed the talks.

The SADC's major goals are to reduce poverty, improve the standard of living for the people of southern Africa, promote economic development, peace, security, and growth, and assist the socially disadvantaged through regional integration.

Mnangagwa's administration, though, has come under a lot of scrutiny for several human rights violations and a crackdown on his political opponents.

The United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commission has called for the immediate release of human rights defenders, who have been detained for two weeks.

And from a South Africa perspective

South Africa’s ambivalence about the civil turmoil in Zimbabwe threatens to undercut the diplomatic plaudits it earned from taking on Israel at the International Court of Justice.

This weekend, President Cyril Ramaphosa and International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola will attend the Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit in Harare. Their motorcade will pass streets that have allegedly been purged of protesters by Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Troubling reports have ratcheted up in the past two months about the state’s critics and political opponents being thrown into jail for dissent. In the words of Human Rights Watch, the government has spent the lead up to the summit “accelerating its crackdown against legitimate and peaceful activism ahead of the August summit”.

This week, the international relations department shot down a call from the Democratic Alliance to move the SADC meeting, insisting it has no authority to make the demand. Activists’ issues, it said, “can be resolved by sitting around the table”.

That evasion betrays pro-democracy efforts across the border and brings the country’s foreign policy objectives into question.

17th August 2024 UPDATE: As you can see above, it was not just our complaint about Zanu PF - it has global coverage!!

 Further Considerations

Also anyone who feels they should put pen to paper and express their ‘hurt’ over the internal destruction of your home nation by Zanu PF please do so and I will publish, citing your views. This request also applies to the entire Zimbabwean diaspora too. Prior Headlines in August 2024

16th August 2024:

Yesterday on the 15th August 2024, the mighty United Nations team of 'experts' issued a further damning statement against the incarceration of over 100 men, women and children detained over this last few months, expressly under the order of EDM to "prevent" any Embarrassment during the SADC Chairmanship handover. Indeed we had to print an addendum to our detailed 22 page petition to Sir Keir Starmer, the new UK Prime Minister. The full transcript of the UN Expert teams can be viewed or downloaded {click here}.

They said: "GENEVA (15 August 2024) - The Zimbabwean authorities must immediately release human rights defenders who have been arbitrarily detained for over two weeks and drop charges against them, independent human rights experts* said today."

“The enforced disappearance, incommunicado detention and torture, followed by the arbitrary detention of these human rights defenders is inexcusable, and not only violates international human rights law but also makes a mockery of the safeguards contained in Zimbabwe’s own Constitution,” the experts said.

The experts said, “These baseless charges are being used as a fig-leaf to target human rights defenders and opposition voices for calling for greater democracy, human rights and accountability in Zimbabwe. At a time when Zimbabwe is preparing to host the SADC summit, whose values include institutions that are “democratic, legitimate, and effective”, it is unconscionable that these human rights defenders working to strengthen such institutions remain arbitrarily detained.”

Hand Over Our full and detailed petition is available to view, read or download {click here} - as presented at 12:30pm at the door of 10 Downing Street by the petitioners.

Some Comments from the Petition

Council for Foreign Relations: 13th August 2024; ""....In practice, Zimbabwe’s governing authorities are preparing to host the upcoming SADC summit by terrorizing political opponents, student activists, labor organizers, and community leaders —  disrupting the peace and security of Zimbabwean citizens in a quest to silence anyone who might point out the way government corruption impedes economic development.""

Amnesty International Statement 9th August 2024; “"The Zimbabwe authorities’ intensified crackdown and the dismantling of fundamental freedoms is directly linked to the government’s hosting of the SADC summit in Harare,” Nassah said. “It sets a dangerous tone for the bloc’s commitment to human rights under the upcoming chairmanship of Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa.”"

Catholics Bishops Conference: 9th August 2024;  ""As the Catholic Bishops we are worried and saddened that to silence the dissenting voices and to quell possible demonstrations violence, torture, and abductions seem to be the only options deployed.""

It goes on and on. The World has ED and Zanu PF under a spotlight - they cannot hide matters any longer. Whilst they have control of the partisan media in Zimbabwe, the 8 million potential diaspora VOTERS are revealing the regimes crimes, their lies, and their desperation!

In addition it has now come to light that the regime is attempting to export their lies and deceit - with CIO's in the UK trying to infiltrate Human Rights groups and opposition organisations - in order to convince the new British government that the Zimbabwean 'Opposition' is relaxed and happy about the 2023 elections - by subverting the opposition in the diaspora - claiming that Zanu Pf UK and Europe - are the diaspora! See our recent article about the spies sent to the UK for that precise purpose - we have reccommended to the new UK Government that these subversive agents of the regime should be deported back to Zimbabwe!
